Although Sunshine One Call had already been called out to mark the lines, somehow this one was overlooked. As a result, construction was halted to move the line before work could continue. Here’s a look at some of the other items that can be unearthed or problems that can be uncovered while working on a job site:
Muck and debris – Rocks and other natural materials can make for a lengthy battle with Mother Nature. Although the issue will be resolved, additional equipment may have to be brought in to take care of the problem sufficiently.
Water – Anyone who lives close to the ocean, a canal, or other intercoastal bodies of water know that it’s possible to find water at shallow depths. So it’s not uncommon to begin excavation only to find water three feet below the surface.
Close houses – Developers love to pack as many houses as possible into a neighborhood. As a result, their proximity to each other is often close, which makes it difficult for heavy equipment to squeeze between them. Sometimes smaller equipment than a job calls for must be used because there’s simply no way to get a larger vehicle onto the property.
Supply-chain issues – Although this issue continues to improve, the fact of the matter is sometimes we are simply at the mercy of others. There are instances when we have to wait for the right pump or other crucial product to show up.
